I have been away for a while - medical issues followed by a change of jobs has taken it's toll on my time and energy. Hopefully I am back now so I can begin again to work with this wonderfully powerful and inexpensive device!
While I have been away the folks over at Marvell have been busy - it looks like they have professionalized their 'plug computer' to look much sharper than the original one I had purchased about a year ago. Check out the picture and you will see what I mean - lights and everything!!! (grin)
You can find out more information and links to the product here: http://www.marvell.com/platforms/plug_computer/
My new job entails Information Security - a mouthful to say the least and something I have enjoyed so far. What does this have to do with a plug computer??? Well - there are some aspects of my job that require tracking rouge devices connected to the network where I work. Other aspects have requirements to passively monitor network traffic and look for anomolies in the data streams. One other idea I have been knocking around is setting up a couple of HoneyPot machines to trap hack attempts into the network... It seems to me this computer just may fill a nitch in my line of work very handly and is low-power but has enough horsepower to perform the sensor monitoring functions I need. As I progress on this idea I wll keep posting here so others may gain some advantage and not re-invent the wheel.
Let me know if you are interested - maybe we can collaborate on this to develop something useful.
More to follow - Stay tuned!
